RMS Cranes was contracted by Sure Steel Inc. to hoist and install a 750,000 lb box truss for a new airplane hanger. The tandem lift required utilization of a Manitowoc 18000 crawler crane and a Liebherr LTM1750 9.1 hydraulic all-terrain crane.

Site: Friends of Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Inc / 2333 Steel Dr, Colorado Springs Crane: LTM 1160 5.1 Scope: Load out a 25,000 lb historic railcar. There are only 2 left in the world and this is one of them. It took 11 years to restore to new condition and is being shipped to New Mexico to be placed inside a museum. In August 2019, RMS Cranes & RMS Rigging successfully completed the move of a 300,000 lb transformer from one side of Colorado Springs to the other. Utilizing a 200 ton Jack & Slide System, the load was trans-loaded from rail to our 6-axle Goldhofer SMPT trailer, which then needed to be trans-loaded to our Goldhofer 12-axle dual-lane trailer for crosstown transport. The haul across Colorado Springs required night travel due to the overall size and weight of the configuration. The move took approximately 7 hours to complete the 10 mile journey as a total of 18 traffic lights needed to be moved with bucket rucks and light technicians. Once the load made it to the sub station, one more trans-load to the SPMT was required before a 500 Ton hydraulic crane offloaded and completed the project.

Block 162 ProjectDenver, CO | 2018 - 2020In August 2020, RMS Cranes finished dismantling two Potain tower cranes at Swinerton Builders project Block 162 in downtown Denver, CO. The crew had 9 days to complete the dismantle of two 460’ tall tower cranes with a total of 7 tie backs. Each set of tie backs were 70’ long and had to be removed from the finished structure. We were able to successfully remove 6 sets of tie backs from the building with the tower cranes. The MR-608 dismantled the MD-485B and then RMS & Viking RCE, climbed down and untied the MR-608 to 135’ HUH and dismantled with a 300 ton Liebherr LTM 1250 6.1 assist crane. In order to complete this task in 9 days, everything had to line up perfectly. The crew worked endless hours and the camaraderie and teamwork was impeccable.

On March 8, 2019, a Liebherr LR 1500 crawler crane lifted a 463,000 lb demethanizer vessel at the Diamond Cryogenic Facility in Reeves County, Texas. The total lift load including deductions was approximately 491,000 lbs. Altus Midstream contracted Saulsbury Industries to build the plants and Saulsbury Industries then awarded RMS Cranes the heavy lift crane support package. In addition to the demethanizer tower lifts, RMS is handling a variety of equipment on the job including six cryogenic skids and three surge tanks. Each of those items weigh 120 US tons. Some of these lifts required offloading and strategically staging the components prior to setting the equipment, thus requiring engineering and lift planning support to safely complete the job.
