Welcome to the fleet! Our brand new 550 ton hydraulic crane is ready for it's first mission with RMS Crane's Wind Division. The LTM 1450-8.1 features a very long yet powerful 7-piece 279' telescopic boom. If greater height is required, a folding jib can be installed quickly, whilst a fixed jib or powerful luffing jib can also be attached. These are controlled using time-tested telematics technology. The 8-axle crane has been designed for worldwide cost-effective mobility and fast, easy setup on site.
Take a look at some recent pictures of one of our 660 ton Liebherr LR1600/2 and 160 ton Kobelco CK1600G cranes at the beginning of a wind turbine construction project.
In October 2020, RMS Cranes' wind division was contracted to provide crane support for wind turbine maintenance in Wyoming. The maintenance required the 84,000 lb rotor to be removed, which is shown in this video. The work required one of our 600 ton Liebherr LTM1500 8.1 machines and a 80 ton Tadano GR800XL assist crane to tail the rotor to horizontal position on the ground. Our wind division provides all types of crane services for the the wind energy industry, with experience & capabilities on most turbine types and sizes.
